Gov't says no environmental damage due to THAAD radar Updated: 2017-08-14 04:01:35 KST

The South Korean government has revealed there will be no environmental damage due to the THAAD missile defense system, deployed in Seongju County, some 300 kilometers south of Seoul.
This follows a joint study by the defense and environment ministries', on radiation and noise from the system on Saturday afternoon.
The survey was initially scheduled for last Thursday but was postponed due to bad weather conditions and angry protests from local residents and peace activists.
The defense ministry plans to conduct additional environmental tests in the coming days and hold a discussion session with members of the local community on Thursday about the permanent deeployment of THAAD.
