South Korean President Moon Jae-in has vowed all-out efforts for the successful hosting of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Korea's Alpine resort town of PyeongChang.
Accepting the position of an honorary ambassador for the PyeongChang Games at a ceremony marking 200 days to the the Winter Olympics, President Moon said the administration has the obligation to carry out the world's largest sporting event without a hitch as it's also the first large-scale international event for the Moon government.
The president also noted PyeongChang's vision to make it a Cultural Olympics, Environmental Games and Olympics for Peace adding another description to the list: A healing Olympics for the Korean people.
The president who got elected into office following a presidential impeachment earlier this year said he has no doubt that the sporting event will be an opportunity for Koreans torn apart by months-long political uncertainty.. to restore national pride and hope.
