FM Kang met with UN special rapportuer to discuss N.Korean human rights Updated: 2017-07-17 20:33:24 KST

South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in North Korea, Tomas Ojea Quintana.
Seoul's top diplomat explained to Quintana that one of the current administration's top priorities is resolving the human rights issues in the North.
Kang also stressed the importance of engagement to improve the human rights situation by appealing to the Special Rapportuer for the UN's interest in families separated by the Korean War as well as South Koreans illegally detained in the regime.
Currently, six of them are held captives in the hermit kingdom.
Quintana is set to meet with officials of various government agencies and ministries related to the reclusive state during his five-day stay in South Korea.
