Extra budget bill moves to subcomittee for fine-tuning Updated: 2017-07-15 15:17:56 KST

We begin at the National Assembly, where lawmakers on the budget committee have taken an important step on the government's proposed extra budget, referring the bill to a subcommittee that will fine-tune it.
Assembly officials say that's set to be done tomorrow and Monday, and then on Tuesday it will go back to the budget committee, which will set up a full vote on it.
The budget is worth around 10 billion U.S. dollars, and is intended to create jobs, mainly in the public sector, but the main opposition Liberty Korea Party and other parties oppose the bill's public-sector focus.
They also say it does not meet the conditions for an extra budget set out in the National Finance Act, which include, for example, mass unemployment or a recession.
