On with the latest debacle on minimum wage Korea's Minimum Wage Commission is set to hold final negotiations this afternoon on the nation's minimum hourly pay for next year.
The commission includes representatives of labor, business and the public interest.
It's the 11th meeting on the subject of next year's minimum wage, but the parties have so far been unable to reach a compromise.
The labor sector wants to HIKE pay next year by about 48 percent to 9,570 won, or roughly 8 dollars and 40 cents.
However, management has suggested an increase of just three percent to 6,670 won, or about 6 dollars.
The labor ministry, which oversees the commission, will officially announce the minimum wage for next year on August 5th.
