Wrapping up the fifth and the final session of this year's annual policy reports, Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn called on public servants to commit to making Korea safer and more secure and ensuring the public feels the effects of the administration's policy initiatives.
"Law and order and public safety are the basis for protecting people's lives and assets. A strong rule of law can help the economy, facilitating trade between economic entities and attracting foreign capital."
He also called for more thorough preparations against the rising threat of terrorism and natural disasters like earthquakes, with a special focus on nuclear facilities.
Prime Minister Hwang is set to give a national address with a press conference just before the Lunar New Year holiday to outline his plans for state affairs and call for the public's support.
"With the nation bracing for even greater political turmoil in the months ahead, with the possibility of an early presidential election, Prime Minister Hwang will likely stress his vision for stabilizing state affairs during this time. He is also expected to seek lawmakers' cooperation in achieving the government's policy initiatives.
