Korea's science and culture ministries give 2017 action plans to Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn Updated: 2017-01-06 08:34:59 KST

Five government offices, including the Ministry of Science, I-C-T and Future Planning, have outlined their action plans for the year to Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.
In a briefing earlier, officials said their focus will be on bolstering the government's growth initiatives through its vision of achieving a smart information society through I-C-T innovation.
The ministries also pledged to work toward creating a healthy startup eco-system through the expansion of the government's creative economy initiative.
Other steps include increasing Korea's I-C-T competitiveness on the global stage by making policies focused on meeting the needs of researchers, creating new markets and services through convergence and innovation, and supporting state projects involving smart IT to better prepare for the so-called "Fourth Industrial Revolution."
