World’s richest 10 percent produce 50 percent of CO2: Oxfam Updated: 2015-12-03 04:15:20 KST

A new report shows the world's richest ten percent of people are responsible for producing half of Earth's carbon emissions, while the poorest half only produce ten percent.
British charity group Oxfam issued the report on Wednesday to coincide with the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference in Paris
It said that an average person among the richest one percent emits one-hundred-75 times more carbon footprint than those in the poorest ten percent.
The report said climate change and economic inequality are linked and together pose one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century.
It then stressed that rich, high emitters should be held accountable for their emissions, no matter where they live.
